Sammy Hagar - Sammy Hagar and Friends

During The "I Can't Drive 55" part of Sammy Hagar's early 80's career I had the unique pleasure of attending one of his concerts. There was supposed to be an opening act that never showed. After awhile Sammy came out, sat down on the edge of the stage and told us what happened. He said "You guys paid to see two bands tonight so I'm going to give you two bands worth of music". And he did. He played songs that I was not familiar with, even guitar solos, the works. He presented himself as someone who understood the value of his fans and their hard earned money. It is something I have never forgotten.

For the last 40 years, Sammy Hagar has created some of the world's best rock and roll songs. No other artist can touch him when it comes to dedication and work ethic. He is a nonstop performer with a heart and ear for his fans. On this disc, Sammy is truly inspired. The new cd, Sammy And Friends, is just that, a collection of personal friends performing some awesome music.

Mostly covers intermixed with some originals, the cd is a plethora of good solid rock and roll. The album rocks. From Bob Seger's "Ramblin Gamblin Man" to Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville", the album is an expression of pure rock power and joy.

Hands down this is an amazing line up of musicians he has gathered. Kid Rock, Toby Keith, Taj Mahal, Nancy wilson, Neal Schon, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony...the list goes on. This album is loaded with guest musicians including Sammy's own Waboritas band. Simply put, this is a great rock album.

"All We Need Is An Island", an original, features Nancy Wilson on vocals. This song just lifts you up and helps you soar. Such a well written piece of artistry.

My favorite track is "Going Down"(live in studio take1). It is powerhouse recording of a live band, which I feel is where Sammy really shines. Neal Schon's guitar playing on this track is truly inspirational. Brings me back to my HSAS album. And yes I had it on vinyl!

Sammy Hagar has created well rounded rock and roll album that is loaded with killer songs and powerful emotional tributes to other artists. Get this album now!
